The incumbent serves as an intern-forester in the silviculture program and is responsible for development and implementation of silvicultural prescriptions and stand diagnoses in support of the district program of work. This position will have conversion potential to the GS-09 level as a 0460 series Forester. The Flathead National Forest currently has an active vegetation management program in timber sales, fuels reduction projects, reforestation, young stand tending, and salvage sales.
