A senior wildland firefighter on a specialized crew (fuels, handcrew, hotshot, engine, helitack, or fire module) performs fire suppression and control tasks, including line construction, hose layout, pump operation, and mop-up. They participate in training and gather data on weather, topography, and fire behavior. They also engage in fuels management and prescribed fires and are responsible for operating and maintaining equipment for wildland and prescribed fire responses.
