A graduate research assistantship is available to pursue a Ph.D. degree in forest genetics at Oregon State University (OSU).  The candidate may pursue research on fundamental aspects of forest genetics or research in support of applied tree breeding programs in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest Tree Improvement Research Cooperative (PNWTIRC).  Potential research topics include climate change and assisted migration, forest tree genomics (e.g., genomic prediction), resistance to blister rust disease in western white pine, and resistance to emerald ash borer in Oregon ash.  Dr. Gancho Slavov, who recently joined OSU as a new faculty member and Director of the PNWTIRC, will serve as PhD advisor.
