This program applies the fundamental principles of DNR’s Natural Areas Program to complete land acquisitions that protect high-quality native ecosystems, geologic features, archaeological resources, and scenic attributes within State Natural Areas. The program also protects working forests, as well as habitat for federally-listed species, by administering the fee and conservation easements as part of the USFS’ Forest Legacy program, as well as USFWS’ Section 6.
